Travelling Inside The Corbett Park

Inside Corbett National Park, visitors are allowed to explore the wilderness through various modes of transportation and activities. Here are the primary ways of traveling inside Corbett Park:

  1. Jeep Safaris: Jeep safaris are the most popular way to explore the core and buffer zones of Corbett National Park. These open-roofed 4×4 vehicles provide an excellent vantage point for wildlife viewing and photography. Jeep safaris are conducted by park authorities and authorized tour operators. You can book safari permits in advance for specific zones like Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durga Devi, and Sitabani.
  2. Canter Safaris: Canter safaris are open-air, shared safari vehicles that can accommodate a larger number of people compared to jeeps. Canter safaris are available in the Dhikala and Bijrani zones and are a cost-effective option for exploring the park.
  3. Elephant Safaris (Temporarily Closed): In the past, elephant safaris were offered for a unique and up-close wildlife experience. However, they are temporarily closed to ensure the well-being of the elephants and to minimize disturbance to the wildlife.
  4. Nature Walks and Hiking: Some areas of the park, such as the Sitabani and Durga Devi zones, offer nature walks and hiking trails for those who prefer a more immersive experience on foot. These walks are led by experienced naturalists and provide opportunities to observe the smaller flora and fauna of the park.
  5. Birdwatching: Corbett National Park is a paradise for birdwatchers, and birdwatching is an activity that can be enjoyed throughout the park. The diverse habitats of the park attract numerous resident and migratory bird species, making it a haven for avian enthusiasts.
  6. River Rafting: The Kosi River flows through Corbett National Park, and some tour operators offer river rafting experiences on the river. This is a thrilling activity that allows you to enjoy the natural beauty from a different perspective.

Please note that visitors are not allowed to explore the park on foot or in private vehicles, and all activities are conducted under the supervision of trained guides and park authorities to ensure the safety of visitors and the protection of wildlife. Additionally, it’s essential to follow the park’s rules and guidelines to ensure a respectful and responsible visit to this pristine wilderness.
